Loyola's Varsity Soccer team won their first game yesterday on Nov. 28 against Santa Ana at Loyola High School with a 2-1 win.
Santa Ana started the first half of the game leading with a goal. Captain Henry Smith-Hastie redeemed the team making a drive to the goal and scoring for Loyola to tie the game going into the end of the first half.
The second half started with the Cub’s having a strong defense and keeping the ball on the far side of the field. Liam Hook passed the ball to Ben Beuerlein for Loyola's second goal of the game at minute 65:30.
The game ended with a strong performance from the defense and goalie Salvador Ontiveros. The Cub’s continued to have strong drives by the forwards to maintain the lead and, subsequently, win the game.
