The Cubs dominated in their championship win against Paramount High School on Saturday evening.
Early on Grayson Doody attempted two shots both were saved by Paramount’s keeper. With 8 minutes in the first half and 25 yards out Michael Maloney set up for low driven shot making the score 1-0. Six minutes later fans saw another goal scored by Finn West (2-0).
In the match’s second half Michael Maloney went for the double kill assisted by fellow forward Grayson Doody (3-0). Loyola’s defense held strong throughout the duration of the game but gave up a PK with 25 minutes left in the second half making the game 3-1. Eric Areola was just short of a goal coming off a corner kick but hit the sidebar. With two minutes to go, senior Ben Bolte took a shot blocked by Paramount’s keeper, but Jake Rogers took advantage of the rikashay making the final score 4-1.
Based on their performance in the Westcoast Showcase tourney, Loyola has shown their offensive capability supported by a strong defense and midfield. The Cubs will take on Crespi for their first league match Monday evening.
