The battle for LA begins as the Cubs take on cross town rivals, the Cathedral Phantoms, at Balzano Field. The game gets off to a competitive start, both teams wanting to gain an early edge over the other. After a great display of skill by both teams, ultimately, the first half of the game is left scoreless. In a fast-paced start to the second half, Cathedral earns a goal about 10 minutes in. The Cubs battle back with a shot from Alejandro Sanchez which deflects off the post into a second effort from Jake Rogers. The shot ends up just shy of tying the game. The Cubs, again, get an opportunity to score off of a throw-in leading to a nice header by Alejandro Sanchez which is saved by the Cathedral keeper. With 3 minutes left in the game, Cathedral scores again making the score 2-0. As Malcolm Hawkins is fouled in the box, the Cubs get a penalty kick chance to bring the lead back to just 1. Alejandro Sanchez scores off of the penalty attempt to make the game 1-2 still in favor of Cathedral. As an action packed second half comes to an end, the final score of the game ends up being 2-1 in a Cathedral win.
