At the conclusion of the 2019 CIF Southern Section Masters Meet held at El Camino College on Saturday (May 18), six Cubs qualified for the 101st CIF State Track & Field Championships to be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. later this week (May 24-25).
Senior Will O’Brien ’19 won the pole vault title at the Masters after clearing 15-03, advancing to State along with five other Cubs in three different events.
Fellow senior Mason Ratkovich ’19 returns to the CIF State meet in the 800m after finishing 3rd at the Masters with a time of 1:55.49. Additionally, Loyola's 4x400m relay team of sophomore Ceyair Wright ’21, Ratkovich, and seniors Andrew Arth ’19 and Jeremy Davis ’19 placed 5th (3:15.81) to advance, while junior Anthony Stone ’20 qualified in the 1600m after finishing 7th with a new PR of 4:14.17 on Saturday.
Prelims begin on Friday (May 24) at Buchanan HS in Clovis.
