For six straight seasons, Loyola Golf has been untouchable in Mission League action. Today, head coach Robb Gorr and the Varsity team made it seven straight, defeating Notre Dame by a score of 188-209 at Lakeside GC in Burbank (Apr. 16) to complete the 2019 conference slate undefeated and add onto their streak of 66 consecutive dual match victories in the Mission League dating back to 2013.
A pair of seniors led Loyola on the afternoon, with Daniel Nunez ’19 and Justin Wallender ’19 both shooting 1-over 36s. Junior Joshua Yoo ’20 went 3-over par (38), while senior Lance Guerrero ’19 and sophomores Timmy Von Der Ahe ’21 and Justin Lee ’21 each shot 4-over 39s. The Cubs’ record improves to 12-1 overall with the win, following up Loyola’s second Mission League Tournament victory which was secured last Wednesday.
Another dual match against Peninsula HS awaits the Cubs this Thursday (Apr. 18) at noon in Lakewood at Lakewood GC.
