Loyola Trumps Crespi to Remain Perfect at Home
Loyola kept up their offensive dominance as they entered the game versus Crespi. Senior Jake Rodgers (who had 4 goals in the previous match) continued his hot streak and scored a difficult goal off of a clean cross from fellow senior Malcolm Hawkins in the 5th minute. Shortly after, Malcolm followed up on a missed shot from Jake and beat the keeper, raising the Cubs’ lead to 2-0 early in the first half. Loyola took over the game in the first half having much more possession than their opponents. Meanwhile Loyola’s offense performed like a well-oiled machine, allowing for several beautiful shot attempts from senior James Reddington. Senior Kenechi Ekeomodi scored a well placed shot in the 30th minute assisted by junior Caden Ambrose further adding on to Loyola’s now 3-0 lead. Loyola continued to dominate possession of the ball in the second half but the score remained unchanged until senior captain Nate Smith-Hastie was awarded a penalty in the 61st minute and put it past the keeper deftly. Loyola now held a 4-0 lead in the back end of the second half. Loyola was able to keep their lead in the end and won the game 4-0 making this a perfect home stretch for Loyola. Loyola completes the first half of league play with a 6-0 record with zero goals against.
