First Half:
The Loyola Cubs came out very strong early. They had majority of the possession while trying to break the Chaminade defensive lines. About 11 minutes in, after Chaminade cleared a Loyola corner, Senior Liam Hook swung in a cross and fellow senior Tomás Griego headed the ball in the net to make the game 1-0 to the cubs. Entering the middle of the first half the cubs continued a lot of possession and received many chances. Junior Jake Rodgers had a great chance with 8 minutes left in the first half with the goalie making a crucial touch on a 1 v 1 opportunity. In the last 2 minutes of the first half Jake Rodgers received a brilliant through ball from Junior Spencer Roberts and slotted it home to make it 2-0 cubs. In the dying seconds of the half Spencer Roberts capitalized on a bouncing ball in the box with a hard driven shot to the near post making it 3-0 cubs at the end of the first half.
Second Half:
The cubs experienced a lot of possession once again in the beginning of the second half. Chaminade came out with a very defensive formation with a majority of their players behind the ball at all times. In the 23rd minute of the second half, after a lackadaisical pass from the Chaminade defense, Spencer Roberts takes advantage and passes it past the goalie into the net to make it 4-0 cubs. The cubs continued to dominate through the rest of the second half to finish off the game 4-0.
The Cubs remain undefeated in the Mission League. They are riding on a 5 game winning streak going into next Monday’s game at Harvard Westlake.
