Loyola Swim finished 2nd overall in the team standings at the 2022 CIF-SS Division I Finals meet held at Marguerite Aquatics Center in Mission Viejo this evening (May 6) with a team score of 270. The runner-up finish extends the program’s streak of Top 3 finishes at CIF Finals to 16 straight years.

This year’s meet was capped off by a new CIF Div. I and State record in the 400 Free Relay (the final race of the meet). Loyola’s trio of juniors Rex Maurer ’23, Zach Larrick ’23, Max Cahill ’23, and senior William Kim ’22 posted a 2:58.86 to win it, bettering the D1 meet record Loyola also set last year (2021 - 2:59.40 w/ Maurer, Larrick, Kim, and now-alum Jack Brearton ’21).

Maurer also had himself a day, winning two individual CIF titles in the 200 Free (1:34.95) and 500 Free (4:13.90), which was just over a second off the national HS record of 4:12.80.
