Loyola’s Varsity Water Polo team will begin its postseason journey as the top seed in the 2021 CIF-SS Ford Division I Championship playoff bracket.
The Cubs, who come into the playoffs ranked No. 1 in the final CIF-SS Poll of the regular season, will pay a visit to Riverside Poly (16-13) on Wednesday (Nov. 3) for their CIF first round matchup against the Bears at 3:30PM.
Should the Cubs defeat Riverside Poly on Wednesday, they will advance to the CIF Quarterfinals (likely on Saturday, Nov. 6). That matchup would be against the winner of a first round game between San Clemente and Santa Margarita. If the Tritons advance, Loyola will host the quarterfinal. If the Eagles advance, Loyola will travel to Santa Margarita.
Loyola currently sits at 11-16 overall, but their record is deceiving as head Coach Erik Healy has once again scheduled tough in 2021. More than half of the Cubs’ losses this season have come at the hands of teams also ranked in the Top 10 of the CIF Southern, CIF North Coast, and CIF San Diego Sections. Loyola finished second in the Mission League with a 3-1 record.
