At the CIF Northern Individual Regional at River Ridge GC in Oxnard earlier today (May 6), Loyola had three of its four golfers qualify for the upcoming CIF-SS Ford Individual Championships.
Sophomore Justin Lee ’21 continued his tear this season with a 3-under 69 to finish second overall in the competition. Senior Daniel Nunez ’19 was 1-under par with his 71, finishing tied for fourth, while sophomore Timmy Von Der Ahe ’21 posted a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for sixth overall. Junior Brian Arnold ’20 nearly made the cut with his 74 final round, but was forced to compete with eight other golfers also tied at 2-over in a playoff for the final three qualifying spots. Arnold posted a par on the first hole and was narrowly edged out in the playoff.
The top 20 golfers from each of the three individual CIF Regionals will advance to the Individual Championships on Thursday (May 16) at Goose Creek GC in Mira Loma.
