No. 5 seed Loyola Lacrosse, the reigning CIF Division I Champions, gears up for a rematch against No. 4 seed Corona del Mar at high noon this Saturday (May 7). The winner of tomorrow's quarterfinal game at Smith Field will earn a spot in the semifinals.

PREVIEW: Loyola is the reigning CIF Southern Section Division I Champion. Head coach Jimmy Borell and the Cubs made history as the first-ever CIF Lacrosse champions in 2021 (the first official year as a CIF-sanctioned sport).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cubs came out of the gates hot in their opening round playoff game on Wednesday against the visiting 12-seed Santiago Sharks. After building a 9-1 lead at the break, the Cubs stayed hot in the second half and cruised to a 15-1 win at Smith Field.
On April 13th, Loyola went to Newport Beach and battled closely with the host Sea Kings, falling by just a single goal, 7-8. In the 2021 Playoffs, No. 1 seed Loyola defeated No. 4 seed CdM at home in the semifinals 9-6 en route to the championship game.
2022 CIF PLAYOFFS: The winner of Saturday's 4-5 match up will play in the CIF Semifinals scheduled for next Monday (May 9). Should the Cubs advance, they will be on the road at either No. 1 Mater Dei or No. 8 Trabuco Hills. Game time is TBD. For the full 2022 bracket, click here.
