LAST TIME OUT: Loyola won a thriller at Smith Field last Friday night against the visiting St. Francis Golden Knights. Needing a victory to secure a share of the 2022 Angelus League title and a third-straight championship, the Cubs put forth their best offensive performance of the season and came away victorious in a 28-27 nailbiter on Senior Night. After the Golden Knights scored a touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, a huge stop by the Cub defense and senior Jared Erby '23 on the 2-pt conversion attempt thwarted St. Francis' comeback bid. Loyola would go on to win by one, and celebrate its 29-man senior class with a joyous postgame Senior Night ceremony. To view videos of the final play and crowd/player reactions, click here and here.
PREVIEW: The No. 4 seed Cubs are now looking to win a 7th CIF-SS Football Championship and will host the No. 13 seed Lawndale Cardinals at Smith Field. Loyola and Lawdale meet each other in football for the first time.
