After an energy-filled home opener and first victory last Friday, Loyola Football will look to keep that momentum going into their matchup with visiting Leuzinger this Friday (Sept. 8) at Smith Field.

LIVESTREAM: Friday’s game vs the Olympians will be livestreamed by Loyola’s student-run team, the John Malloy Broadcast Club (free on YouTube), and via the NFHS Network (subscription required):
PARKING: Guests may enter campus via the Dewey Lot (1499 Dewey Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90006). Security will direct any overflow to adjacent and secure parking lots surrounding campus. Handicap parking is also available (please inform Security). Our gates will open at 5:30PM.
ENTRANCE: Seating is at a first come, first served basis at Smith Field. Spectators are allowed to bring bleacher support seats. Home fans, visiting fans, and students have their own marked sections: Loyola fans will sit west of the 50 yard line, opponents sit east of the 50.
ON CAMPUS: The snack/drink bar from Zlicious Eatz will be open.
PREVIEW: Loyola and Leuzinger will meet for the first time ever this Friday. The Olympians (Lawndale, CA) play in the Ocean League alongside the likes of Beverly Hills and Inglewood and finished as CIF-SS Div. V semifinalists, defeating familiar foe Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Etiwanda. This season, Leuzinger is 2-1 overall: W 33-7 vs Norco, L 0-17 vs Edison, W 40-19 vs Ayala.
LAST TIME OUT: Loyola treated its home fans to a big win last Friday against visiting Culver City, defeating the Centaurs 24-6 at Smith Field. Junior QB Thomas Knyal '25 finished 16-for-28 with 232 yards and 2 TDs. Junior WR Duke Giarraputo '25 started the scoring with a big 61-yard run, PAT completed by senior AJ Schultz '24. Knyal and senior captain Khalil Cueva '24 connected in the endzone and sophomore RB Sean Morris '26 punched one in by halftime for the 21-0 lead.
UNDERCLASSMEN: This year, Loyola will field a sophomore-only team and a freshman-only team to round out the three-level football program.
The sophomores are on the road this Thursday (Sept. 7) at Leuzinger, while Frosh picked up their first win of the season last week on the road at Culver City, 32-6, and will now play their first home game at Smith Field on Thursday at home against Long Beach Poly at 4PM.
