Loyola entered this match versus Crespi Carmelite looking to attack early on and assert the offensive pressure they have patented this season. Their aggressive mindset paid off with a goal from Senior Kenechi Ekeomodi in the first couple minutes of the game. Loyola kept their press high and attacked ruthlessly, earning numerous high quality shots. Loyola played most of the first half on the opposing side of the field. Their attacking efforts bore fruit again with a shot from senior Nico Lopez that caused an own-goal from Crespi. Loyola leads the game 2-0. Towards the back end of the second half Loyola seemed to get a little bit shaky with the ball. As the Loyola play was becoming more and more wild, the referee finally called the half. One could only think that the coaches would use this opportunity during halftime to get the Cubs organized. On the bright side, Crespi failed to come out with a goal when Loyola was at their most vulnerable. Loyola was able to turn it on again in the second half maintaining high energy play from the early first half. About 15 minutes into the second half, senior Spencer Roberts scored his first goal of the season assisted by junior Alejandro Sanchez. With Loyola up 3-0, Crespi’s defensive energy definitely took a hit. The second half continued with most of the play in Crespi's half. After a series of good possessions from Loyola, Alejandro Sanchez scored an absolute rocket of a goal from 25 yards out. After that fourth goal, Loyola continued solid play until the end of the game. This match ended in a dominant performance for Loyola on the road. Final score: 4-0 Loyola!
With the victory, Loyola secured the Mission League title with its 10th consecutive win and 11 consecutive shutout.
