LAST TIME OUT: For the second consecutive season, Loyola and Santa Barbara met in the CIF Division I Playoffs—and for the second consecutive season, it was the Cubs who prevailed. Loyola used a late goal by junior Charlie Munoz with just seconds left in the game to level the game at 1-1, and after two scoreless OT periods, the Cubs relied upon senior goalkeeper Zach Driscoll in the penalty shootout. Four consecutive Loyola makes (Alejandro Sanchez, Charlie Munoz, Sebastian Gabella, Marco Bottene) and two huge stops by Driscoll in between preserved the 4-2 win in PKs to send Loyola into the next round.
2022 CIF PLAYOFFS: A victory over the Lions on Tuesday sends No. 11 Loyola into the CIF Quarterfinals against the winner of No. 3 Santa Ana Valley and No. 14 Villa Park on Friday (Feb. 18). Game time and location TBD.
