Following the recent selection of Loyola Football alum David Long ’16 in the third round on Friday evening, two more Cubs signed free agent contracts upon the conclusion of the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday (Apr. 27).
Chris Brown ’14 (USC) will stay close to home yet again, signing a UDFA contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Trojan offensive lineman was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention selection and started in each of the last two years for USC, winning a Pac-12 and Rose Bowl Championship along the way. Brown will enter camp for the Chargers, who play their home games in Carson at Dignity Health Sports Park, formerly known as the StubHub Center.
Brown was a three-year starter at OT for the Cubs before graduating in 2014. At Loyola, he was named to the All-CIF, All-State, All-Area and All-West Region teams, while also earning All-Serra League Lineman of the Year honors.
